Are you our new press officer?
Do you have a flair for communication, journalism and most importantly press handling? If so, the new short-term position as the Embassy of Denmark’s new press officer may just be the job for you. The Embassy of Denmark is preparing a very important high level visit that will boost bilateral relations and is looking for reinforcement to successfully handle the task at hand. The Embassy’s press officer will work to disseminate knowledge about Denmark in Indonesia and thereby contribute to strengthening the strong bilateral relationship between Denmark and Indonesia. Please note that the contract is short-term, 20 hours per week, starting from 1 August 2015 for the duration of three months and is 20 hours per week.
Your role:
In your role, you will be reporting to and working closely with the Embassy’s management and other staff engaged in communication. As an excellent networker, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining contact with local, regional and national media. You will also widen your network within ministries and the Government as the press officer will be in continuous contact with the Embassy’s partners therein. This means that you will be involved in a wide range of communication tasks on a daily basis, with your strong media network from previous work being key to successfully fulfilling the position.
Your competences:
- Experience in press handling and communication, preferably from other embassies or international organisations.
- A big and reliable network to Indonesian media, including key players.
- Previous experience as a press officer is an advantage.
- A university degree in Communications, Journalism or other relevant field would be desirable, preferably with focus on communication.
- Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English, both written and spoken.
What we offer:
Our new colleague will be offered a competitive short-term contract in accordance with regulations for local staff at the Embassy of Denmark in Jakarta. We would like you to start 1 August 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter, with the contract running until 1 November 2015 and a 20 hours work week.
The press officer function is a new addition at the Danish Embassy. Based on an evaluation of the 3 months period, the Embassy will decide whether to continue with a more permanent press advisor position.
